The Johnsburg Central Jaguars were the 47-37 winner over the Willsboro Central Warriors when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. Johnsburg Central fell just short of Willsboro Central by a score of 31-29.
Despite the loss, Johnsburg Central saw an underclassman step up: Craig Ward dropped a double-double on 12 points and 19 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Sauer-Jones, who scored 4 points along with 12 rebounds.
Johnsburg Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Willsboro Central, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Johnsburg Central will challenge Hartford Central at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Willsboro Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Indian Lake Central at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
