The Merritt Island Christian Cougars waltzed into their matchup Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They put the hurt on Master's Academy with a sharp 62-40 victory. The result was nothing new for Merritt Island Christian, who have now won three games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Merritt Island Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Trey Nevad out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Nevad has scored at least 25% of Merritt Island Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Angstadt, who scored 20 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.
Merritt Island Christian's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Master's Academy, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-8.
Merritt Island Christian will take on City of Life Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Master's Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Odyssey Charter School at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th.
