The West Carter Comets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 14th straight defeat. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 59-37 walloping at the hands of East Carter. The result was an unpleasant reminder to West Carter of the 63-27 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
East Carter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kinsley Rutledge led the charge by scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Avery Hall was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
West Carter's defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-18. As for East Carter, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-9.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Elliott County the next time they take the court. West Carter will host the Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, while the Raiders will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
