Ephrata has gone 9-1 against Ellensburg recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Tigers will welcome the Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. Ephrata will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
Ephrata's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Quincy with a sharp 15-0 win. Considering the Tigers have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, Ellensburg hadn't done well against Othello recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Bulldogs skirted past the Huskies 7-5. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Bulldogs as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Miley Porter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ellensburg's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Carlson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Emerson Morrill was another, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
Ephrata's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Ellensburg, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Ephrata hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.3 home runs per game. However, it's not like Ellensburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Ephrata was able to grind out a solid win over Ellensburg when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 10-5. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
