The Stroudsburg Mountaineers will take on the East Stroudsburg South Cavaliers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Stroudsburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, it was close, but Stroudsburg sidestepped Pocono Mountain East for a 9-7 victory.
Damian Budhai made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. Budhai was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Stroudsburg let Paul Maccarrone and Ryan Pacitti run wild. Maccarrone went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Pacitti got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Luke Powanda was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for East Stroudsburg South, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over Pocono Mountain West on Wednesday.
Liam Huffman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Harrison Aillet, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Domboroczky, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
East Stroudsburg South pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Stroudsburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Stroudsburg beat East Stroudsburg South 4-0 in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Mountaineers repeat their success, or do the Cavaliers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
