Two dominant players in Paul Dreisbach and Zaraivion Crowe are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Xavier Prep Saints will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Palo Verde Valley Yellow Jackets at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Xavier Prep is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
Xavier Prep struggled with assists on Tuesday (Palm Desert had 17 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Xavier Prep had to suffer through a rough 76-42 loss at the hands of Palm Desert. Xavier Prep has not had much luck with Palm Desert recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Despite their defeat, Xavier Prep saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Dreisbach, who scored 18 points, was perhaps the best of all. Dreisbach scored a full 42.9% of Xavier Prep's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tre Rochin, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Palo Verde Valley was just a bucket shy of victory last Friday and fell 44-43 to Brawley.
Xavier Prep has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season. As for Palo Verde Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Things could have been worse for Xavier Prep, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 70-54 loss to Palo Verde Valley in their previous meeting back in November. Can Xavier Prep avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
