2A-1 Region I District 2 recap Nov. 7, 2012
Idalou extended the longest winning streak in 2A-1 Region I District 2 this week by beating Kermit, 49-14. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Wildcats.
Lamesa's Kolt Moreland and Ryan Garza have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Moreland has thrown for 2406 yards this season, while Garza has 61 catches for 795 yards. Koal Houchin from Idalou leads the league in rushing with 708 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Tornadoes take on the Wildcats. Lamesa's offense has scored 250 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Idalou has allowed only 118 on the year.
A big matchup in 2A-1 Region I District 2 this week will be when Brownfield takes on Denver City. The Cubs are in third place, while the Mustangs are in second place.
There should be lots of points scored when David Ritchey's team and the Wildcats face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Tornadoes comes in having scored 250 this season, while Idalou has scored 155. Lamesa scored 36 points last week as it fell to Brownfield.
The Yellow Jackets made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,672 from 8,762. The improvement came about via a 49-14 victory over Kermit last week.
