Softball Recap: Mayde Creek Finds Home Field Redemption Against Seven Lakes

There's no place like home for Mayde Creek, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Seven Lakes Spartans 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rams have posted since March 28, 2024.

Shy'Lynn Brown was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Eva Tyler was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Christine Ferra, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Mayde Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They are 7-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Mayde Creek pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Seven Lakes, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Mayde Creek is taking a road trip to challenge Katy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Katy will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Mayde Creek surely won't give up without a fight. As for Seven Lakes, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Morton Ranch at 6:15 p.m. Seven Lakes is facing Morton Ranch at the right time seeing as Morton Ranch is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
