Shady Spring is on an eight-game streak of home wins, while PikeView is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Tigers will host the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Shady Spring put up the most runs they have all season on Saturday. Everything went their way against Oak Hill as they made off with a 19-3 win. Considering the Tigers have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, PikeView hadn't done well against Woodrow Wilson recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Panthers skirted past the Flying Eagles 11-10. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by just one run.
Landon Wyatt and Trenton Tolliver were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Wyatt didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. Meanwhile, Tolliver tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Wyatt posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. At the plate, Wyatt got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Tolliver went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nate Redmond, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Miller, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Shady Spring's victory bumped their record up to 14-5. As for PikeView, their win bumped their record up to 19-3.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Shady Spring has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .467. However, it's not like PikeView struggles in that department as they've averaged .452. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Shady Spring got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against PikeView by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
