The Oasis Christian Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They lost to Geneva Classical Academy at home by a decisive 42-24 margin. While losing is never fun, Oasis Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 664th, while Geneva Classical Academy is ranked 328th).
Karsyn Roberts was Oasis Christian's leading scorer, having posted seven points.
Amber Whittington held things down on the boards with four rebounds.
Geneva Classical Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Giselle Katzmann out in front who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Katzmann is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Sophie Dalen, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Oasis Christian has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Geneva Classical Academy, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
Oasis Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against McLaughlin at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. McLaughlin comes in on a streak of failing to score more than nine points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Geneva Classical Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Excel Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
