Basketball Recap: Friendship Christian Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Hunter Peed and Josh Hemric

Friendship Christian has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 46-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Thales Academy Apex Titans on Thursday. The Falcons were probably out for revenge after losing 73-56 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Friendship Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Josh Hemric and Hunter Peed. Hemric went 6 for 12 en route to 17 points and seven rebounds, while Peed posted 13 points. Those 17 points gave Hemric a new career-high.

Thales Academy Apex was led to victory by Devin Cockerham and Gradyn West. Cockerham went 8 of 10 on his way to 18 points and eight boards, while West went 6 for 12 en route to 14 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Rachmuth, who earned seven points along with six boards and three steals.

Friendship Christian's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Thales Academy Apex, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-9 record this season.

Friendship Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 56-46 victory against St. Thomas More Academy on the 14th. As for Thales Academy Apex, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-35 win against Neuse Christian Academy on the 13th.
