The Chaminade-Madonna Lions put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They blew past Avant Garde Academy 64-0 at home. The result was nothing new for Chaminade-Madonna, who have now won five games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Among those leading the charge was Davion Gause, who rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown. Gause was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards. Another player making a difference was Javarius Robinson, who threw for 107 yards and two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Avant Garde Academy to a paltry 84 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Chaminade-Madonna's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out 10.5 times before it was all said and done. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.
Chaminade-Madonna's win was their 12th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-0. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 44 points. As for Avant Garde Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.
Chaminade-Madonna will head out on the road to face off against St. John Paul II Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. St. John Paul II Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Avant Garde Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Somerset Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
