Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Florida State University High School comes in on six and Pensacola Catholic on five.
Florida State University High School extended their postseason success on Friday against Wakulla. They strolled past the War Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 42-28. Florida State University High School's victory was all the more impressive since Wakulla was averaging only 14.33 points allowed on the season.
Florida State University High School relied on the efforts of Jeremy Johnston, who threw for 228 yards and four touchdowns, and Jayden Threatts, who rushed for 228 yards and a touchdown while picking up 13.4 yards per carry. Threatts was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards. Ashton Hampton was another key contributor, picking up 99 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Pensacola Catholic can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They breezed by Walton on the road to the tune of 42-15. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 21-0.
Pensacola Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nigel Nelson led the charge by rushing for 148 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Charles Nettles, who rushed for 187 yards and a touchdown while picking up 11.7 yards per carry.
Florida State University High School's win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Pensacola Catholic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Florida State University High School has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 169.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Pensacola Catholic struggles in that department as they've been even better at 204.5 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
