Auburn is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will look to defend their home field against the Athens Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Auburn lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Tri-City, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's matchup. The Trojans put the hurt on the Tornadoes with a sharp 14-4 win on Monday. That looming 14-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Trojans yet this season.

Peyton Campbell was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Campbell is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, Ledger Munds was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Brady Boylen was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Athens had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Tigers. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Like Auburn, Athens also got a great game from a two-way player: Davis Ishmael. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ishmael also tossed no walks, which is notable because Athens is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 1-2 otherwise. Ishmael was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.
Ishmael wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Josh Harris, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That double was Harris' first of the season. Another was Zakk Edwards, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Athens' win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Auburn, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Auburn skirted past Athens 9-7 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
