Ontario Christian is 0-10 against Aquinas since May of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Knights will face off against the Falcons at 3:30 p.m. Ontario Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
Ontario Christian will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs last Tuesday, then bounced right back against Colton last Thursday. The Knights blew past the Yellowjackets 10-1. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won five games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Miranda Salazar made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Salazar was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hannah Demoff, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Lily Peters, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Ontario Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Aquinas didn't have quite enough to beat Linfield Christian on Thursday and fell 5-4.
Aquinas saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Savanna Estrada, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Ontario Christian's record is now 7-4. As for Aquinas, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ontario Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .365. However, it's not like Aquinas struggles in that department as they've averaged .345. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
