5A District 1 recap October 8, 2013
Cleveland extended the longest winning streak in 5A District 1 this week by beating Highland, 54-0. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Storm.
Rio Rancho and Atrisco Heritage Academy played the most contested game in the league this week, with Rio Rancho eventually emerging with a 28-27 victory.
Josh Williams threw for 225 yards and 4 touchdowns. He went 14-25 with 1 interception.
Williams and Dominico Chavez gave Volcano Vista a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Teammate Ibra Dominguez added to the ground attack by rushing for 53 yards.
The Rams' Easton Bruere and Tristen Foley led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-3 quarterback Bruere has thrown for 930 yards this season, while Foley has 24 catches for 432 yards. Nieto Jesse from Cleveland leads the league in rushing with 767 yards.
Heath Ridenour's team took down the Hornets 54-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kian Homme ran for 20 yards in the win.
