The Lakeside Lutheran Warriors typically have all the answers at home, but on Saturday the Lodi Blue Devils proved too difficult a challenge. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 62-61 win over the Warriors. The win was all the more spectacular given Lodi's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 229th, while the Warriors are ranked 30th).
Despite the loss, Lakeside Lutheran had strong showings from Kaycee Guzman, who scored 23 points along with two steals, and Wes Rahn, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Guzman has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Wolfram, who scored four points along with two steals.
Lodi's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-8. As for Lakeside Lutheran, their loss ended a 23-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-2.
Lodi will take on the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Lakeside Lutheran focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Tuesday. As for they, they will head out on the road to square off against Poynette at 7:30 p.m.
