Basketball Recap: Cane Bay Beats Lucy Beckham for Their Third Straight Win

Cane Bay had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They skirted past the Lucy Beckham Bengals 37-34. The 37-point effort marked the Cobras' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Cane Bay's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amare Merrell, who posted five points and five boards. That's the most rebounds Merrell has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Waring, who had five points.

Cane Bay's victory bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Lucy Beckham, they now have a losing record at 9-10.

Looking ahead, Cane Bay is taking a road trip to face off against Berkeley at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Berkeley is on a three-game streak of home wins, Cane Bay a seven-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Lucy Beckham, they will host Wando at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lucy Beckham is facing Wando at the right time seeing as Wando is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
