On Friday, International Community came up short against New Dimensions and fell 61-51. While losing is never fun, International Community can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 620th, while New Dimensions is ranked 230th).
When it comes to explaining why International Community lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gavin Philips. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Kaminski Cordeiro, who scored 8 points.
New Dimensions got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jeriel Martinez out in front who scored 21 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Martinez has scored at least 25% of New Dimensions' points. Jeremiah Carrasquillo was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
International Community's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for New Dimensions, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. International Community and Hope Academy will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Hope Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for New Dimensions, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lakeland Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
