Tucson High Magnet School waltzed into their contest on Saturday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They came out on top against the Mountain View Toros by a score of 4-1. That's more bragging rights for the Badgers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Alyssa Torres made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI.
Torres wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jaliyah Grigsby, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Tucson High Magnet School pushed their record up to 23-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain View, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-11.
