The Central Golden Eagles waltzed into their contest on Thursday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They claimed a resounding 68-31 win over Longmeadow at home. Central has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 21 points or more this season.
Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alaysia Mondon led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Mondon scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Angalece Quinones, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Central's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.4 points per game. As for Longmeadow, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3.
Central will head out on the road to challenge Springfield International at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Longmeadow does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
