Softball Recap: Williams Wins Going Away Against St. Michael

Williams came out on top against St. Michael on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run sixth inning. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Cardinals. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Danika Howe made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Audrina Baldwin was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Kenzie Orozco was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Williams' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-11. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for St. Michael, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-9.

Williams didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 victory against Ray on the 3rd. As for St. Michael, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 1-0 loss against Many Farms on the 28th.
