Holliday is 7-2 against City View since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Holliday Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the City View Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Holliday is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
Last Friday, Holliday got themselves on the board against S & S Consolidated, but S & S Consolidated never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Rams 62-0 at home. Given Holliday's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 277th, while S & S Consolidated is ranked 1110th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tyrese Polite and Grant Cox were among the main playmakers for Holliday as the former gained 86 total yards and two touchdowns and the latter threw for 208 yards and four touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes. Polite was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 65 yards. Isaac Villa also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, City View can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They breezed by Valley View on the road to the tune of 73-19. The win made it back-to-back wins for City View.
Holliday's victory was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-8 S & S Consolidated and 2-6 Valley View (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 38.9% over those games). As for City View, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Holliday skirted past City View 3-0 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Holliday since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
