The Stringer Red Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Simmons Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Stringer has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Simmons will arrive with nine straight wins.
Last Thursday, Stringer was beaten by Mount Olive 42-6.
Despite the loss, Stringer got a solid performance out of Ashton Cook, who rushed for 57 yards and a touchdown on only six carries. Cook was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards.
Meanwhile, Simmons stacked a seventh blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 44-22 margin over West Bolivar. Given Simmons' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 94th, while West Bolivar is ranked 258th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Stringer's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Simmons, their win was their 11th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0.
