Myers Park is 0-5 against Providence since April of 2015 but things could change on Monday. The Myers Park Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Providence Panthers at 5:30 p.m. Myers Park will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Myers Park is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over Palisades on Thursday. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Pumas recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Anna Eason spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. Those hits were her first of the season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ryann Rempson, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Regan Godman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first doubles of the season.
Rempson wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Myers Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Providence had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 13-3 victory. The game was the first time the Panthers have beaten the Bulldogs on their field since May 5, 2022.
Providence also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Averie Jones gave up three earned runs on 11 hits. What's more, Jones posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, Emerson McAllister was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sophie Strugar, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Providence's record now sits at 5-1. As for Myers Park, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Myers Park might still be hurting after the 8-1 defeat they got from Providence when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Myers Park avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
