Walkertown is 0-10 against McMichael since March of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Wolfpack will face off against the Phoenix at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Walkertown 3.2, McMichael 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Walkertown's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over North Forsyth. The result was nothing new for the Wolfpack, who have now won ten matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.
Rachel Roddy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single hit in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs.
In other batting news, Savannah Miller was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Chloe Isaacs was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Walkertown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, McMichael entered their tilt with Morehead on Thursday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 7-3.
Lindsay Redmon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Betsy Taylor, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Olivia Wilson, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.
McMichael's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Walkertown, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Walkertown hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like McMichael struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Walkertown might still be hurting after the 13-5 defeat they got from McMichael when the teams last played on Wednesday. Can the Wolfpack avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
