Denver South took a 50-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Evergreen. Denver South was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Evergreen apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Despite the loss, Denver South still got an impressive performance from Nevaeh Millard, who scored 16 points along with 6 steals and 5 rebounds. Millard scored a full 36.4% of Denver South's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Dominique Valdez was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Among those leading the charge was Tatum Buenning, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Bailey, who scored 7 points.
Denver South's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Evergreen, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Denver South will take on Lakewood at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Evergreen, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Summit at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
