The Plainfield Quakers will face off against the New Palestine Dragons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are still undefeated (Plainfield has five wins , while New Palestine has three).
While Plainfield's victory against Franklin Community wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Quakers skirted past the Grizzly Cubs 4-2. Those four runs were actually the fewest the Quakers have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Kami Arnett made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kenzi Arnett, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Ava Broyles, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Plainfield hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Franklin Community struck out ten times.
Meanwhile, New Palestine got the win against Avon on Thursday by a conclusive 11-1. Fans of the Dragons have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Sadey Hughbanks spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Katie Hirschy was incredible, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4. Saydie Miller was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Plainfield's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 6.6 runs this season. As for New Palestine, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
Both Plainfield and New Palestine just can't seem to miss. The Quakers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.6 hits per game. However, it's not like New Palestine struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 1.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Plainfield beat New Palestine 4-0 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Quakers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
