Poca has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Wayne Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Poca earned a 49-36 win over Charleston Catholic.
Alyssa Raynes was a one-man wrecking crew for Poca as she scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. Lindzie Runions was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Wayne can now show off 14 landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Wednesday. They breezed by Sissonville on the road to the tune of 75-36. Winning may never get old, but Wayne sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Brooke Adkins and Kynadee Britton. Adkins had a great game and dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Meanwhile, Britton did her best for the losing side, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Poca's victory bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Wayne, they pushed their record up to 18-1 with that victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Poca have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Wayne struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Poca was taken down by Wayne 68-36 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Poca avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
