Basketball Recap: North Valleys Drops Season-High Score on Galena

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Valleys). They put the hurt on the Galena Grizzlies with a sharp 71-50 victory on Saturday. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 21 points or more this season.

North Valleys' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alexys DeCremer, who dropped a triple-double on 17 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists. That's the most points DeCremer has posted since back in December of 2023. Ivy Williams was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards.

North Valleys smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive games.

When it comes to explaining why Galena lost, don't look at Julia Imse. Despite the final result, she went 8 of 11 on her way to 31 points and six rebounds. With that strong performance, Imse is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillyana Cholico, who posted seven points and three steals.

North Valleys is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Galena, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

North Valleys will be playing in front of their home fans against South Tahoe at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Galena, they will venture away from home to square off against Douglas at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Douglas has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
