Cypress Bay is 8-0 against Cooper City since November of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Cypress Bay Lightning on the road again and play against the Cooper City Cowboys at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Hopefully Cypress Bay is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cooper City in Florida (Cypress Bay is ranked 98th, while Cooper City is ranked 362nd).
Last Wednesday, Cypress Bay beat Coral Springs 60-50. The win was just what Cypress Bay needed coming off of a 79-36 loss in their prior contest.
Peyton Looky was her usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with five assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie McKinney, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Cooper City posted their closest victory yet this season on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Miramar 3-0. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Cooper City has scored all season.
Cypress Bay's record now sits at 16-3. As for Cooper City, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Cypress Bay skirted past Cooper City 48-45 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cypress Bay since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
