The Heritage Christian Warriors had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They walked away with a 63-54 victory over Grant. Given Heritage Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Grant is ranked 262nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Grant lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being WILLIAM OVERTON, who scored 17 points along with two steals. OVERTON is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Taylor, who scored 12 points.
Heritage Christian pushed their record up to 17-8 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.1 points per game. As for Grant, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-6.
Heritage Christian will head out on the road to challenge Valley Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Grant, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Chavez at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chavez has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 30.
