Despite the defeat, Highland Prep saw an underclassman step up: freshman Terrance Byrd dropped a double-double with 46 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Byrd has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aeden Calini, who posted eight points and 12 boards.
Leading Thatcher to victory were Chad Johnson and Isaac Palmer. Johnson went 9-for-16 to rack up 22 points and six rebounds, while Palmer went 6-for-15 en route to 18 points and eight boards. That's the most points Johnson has posted since back in December of 2024. Wyatt Nicholas was another key player, putting up nine points.
Highland Prep's loss dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Thatcher, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 18-11 record this season.
Highland Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Thatcher, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 87-49 defeat against ALA - Ironwood on the 18th.
