Softball Recap: Arnold Has No Trouble Against Clay

It's playoff time, and Arnold had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Clay Blue Devils on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Marlins, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Bre Clark spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Laela Kern was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jayden Reyes, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Arnold kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clay only managed two hits.

Arnold's victory bumped their record up to 18-8. As for Clay, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-11 record this season.

Arnold will face off against Baker County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Marlins 2.1, the Wildcats 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Clay does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
