Golden Empire recap Oct. 30, 2012
Capital Christian extended the longest winning streak in Golden Empire this week by beating West Campus, 56-0. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Cougars.
Capital Christian led the league in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on the Warriors. Quinton Kirk ran for 172 yards in the win.
Lindhurst's dynamic duo of Tim Endicott and Devin Ward proved tough for Mesa Verde to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Endicott threw for 247 yards and two touchdowns and Ward had 104 yards receiving. Deion Blakely helped Lindhurst's passing attack out by catching nine balls for 62 yards.
Nick Bonovich was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 185 yards on 15 carries as Dixon lost to the Mavericks. Teammate Korey Hall added to the ground attack by rushing for 127 yards.
Lindhurst's Endicott and Zach Kitchen have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Golden Empire in both passing and receiving yards. Endicott has thrown for 1291 yards this season, while Kitchen, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 21 catches for 359 yards. Kirk from Phil Grams' team leads the league in rushing with 1172 yards.
The Rams' Hall needs only 100 yards against Mesa Verde next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 134 carries Hall has accumulated 900 yard this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Ronald Barney's team takes on Dixon. The Mavericks are in third place, while Wes Besseghini's team is in first place.
Mesa Verde made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,706 from 11,940. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 35-15 victory over Jason Neiber's team last week.
