The second annual MaxPreps All Sac-Joaquin Section Flag Football Team highlights 50 standout players from both large and small schools across the region. Selections were based on postseason performance, strength of schedule, stats submitted to MaxPreps and overall impact on the field.
The 2025 season marked the third year of sanctioned flag football in the area, and the talent level continues to climb. Programs like
McClatchy (Sacramento),
Merced,
West Park (Roseville) and
Hilmar reached their first section title games, while
Ponderosa (Shingle Springs),
Colfax,
Christian Brothers (Sacramento) and
Del Campo (Fair Oaks) returned to championship weekend once again.
Below are the first-team, second-team and honorable mention selections. These teams are not position-specific — the focus is strictly on overall impact.
Player of the YearQB/S — Daisy Throckmorton, McClatchy (Sacramento), Sr.She went out on top winning the Division 1 section title. In two years, she tossed 230 touchdown passes and averaged over 13 yards per completion this season and nearly 8,000 yards passing.
Athlete of the YearWR/S — Gabriella Devlin, Christian Brothers (Sacramento), Jr.The junior was the Falcons' main target all season long. She caught 120 passes and 27 TDs. She was also a ball hawk on defense with 18 picks.
Junior Player of the YearQB — Antonia Lejarde, Merced, Jr.Led her team to a Division II section title after throwing 107 touchdown passes. The junior could tuck and run too, as she rushed for over 1,000 yards and scored 21 times.
Coaches of the YearJohn Avery — McClatchy (Sacramento)Put together one of the toughest schedules in the section which featured games against five teams who made it to the section finals.
Raymond Bradley — Christian Brothers (Sacramento)The Falcons were battle tested in one of the toughest leagues in the section. That helped them secure a second section title in three years.
Anthony Leal — HilmarThe Yellowjackets entered postseason play as the five-seed. They had to knock off the fourth, first and third seed to win a section title.
Victor Nazario — MercedThe Bears offense averaged over 32 points per game this season. They scored 40 or more in 10 games during their 2025 championship run.
First TeamWR — Avnoor Bains, El Capitan (Merced), Sr.Caught 69 touchdown passes the past two seasons, including 33 this year. She finished with nearly 1,600 yards receiving.
QB/S — Kamrynn Blevins, Liberty Ranch (Galt), Jr.One of the top athletes in the section. She tossed 55 TD passes, scored another 12 on the ground and finished with over 1,100 yards rushing.
QB — Emma Coronado, Kimball (Tracy), Sr.One of the top passers in the country with over 8,000 yards and 93 touchdown passes. She also rushed for 1,453 and 17 TDs.
QB — Emily Cory, West Park (Roseville), Jr.A huge reason the Panthers were D1 runners-up this season. The offense was one of best in the section, averaging 30 points per game.
ATH — Amaya Grant, Woodcreek (Roseville), Sr.One of the top wideouts as a junior but had to step in as QB this fall and still made plays. She was also a beast at the safety spot.
QB — Madison Hiler, Atwater, Sr.Named CCC MVP for a third-straight season after leading her team to a conference championship and a D2 semifinal appearance.
ATH — Savanna Hill, McClatchy (Sacramento), Jr.Hard to beat the season Hill had for the Lions. She combined to score 40 touchdowns either through the air or on the ground. She was also dominant on defense with 74 sacks and 144 tackles.
ATH — London Lee, McClatchy (Sacramento), Fr.The newcomer was all over the field. She caught 30 TD passes and had over 2,200 yards receiving. On defense, she had 18 picks.
S —Madalyn Meier, Ponderosa (Shingle Springs), Jr.The junior was a huge part of the Bruins strong defense all season long. She picked off 14 passes, including a pair of big INTs during postseason play.
ATH — Emily Morris, Dixon, Sr.Won the Golden Empire League MVP in back-to-back seasons. During her senior campaign, she accounted for more than 60 touchdowns on offense, defense and special teams.
QB/DB — Kate Myers, Pleasant Grove (Elk Grove), Sr.Did it all for the Eagles, leading the team in rushing and passing touchdowns. She also was the team's top defender.
QB/S — Aaliyah Simonian, El Capitan (Merced), Sr. One of the quickest quarterbacks in the section. She rushed for over 1,800 yards and 33 TDs. She could beat you with her arm as well, striking on 45 touchdown passes.
WR/S — Laurel Smart, Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills), Sr.Had a big year for the Trojans on both sides of the ball. She caught 23 TDs and also had 10 picks from the safety position.
WR — Averie Steverson, Merced, Jr.One of the top playmakers throughout the section. She hauled in 157 grabs for 2,378 yards and 32 TDs.
ATH — Marley Walpole, Vacaville, Jr.Made a major impact on both sides of the ball. She caught 20 touchdowns and also picked off 18 passes on defense.
Second TeamATH — Jada Ardoin, Grant (Sacramento), Sr.One of the most electric players in the section with the ball in her hands. She was also an impact player on defense as a rusher.
WR — Annalyse Braden, West Park (Roseville), Jr.When the Panthers needed a big play on offense, Braden usually was on the other end. She was a huge part of West Park's success this season.
QB/S — Paige Denniston, Placer (Auburn), Jr.Involved in nearly every play for the Hillgals. She threw the ball 401 times, she ran the ball 144 times, she had 115 flag pulls and 15 interceptions.
ATH — Brisa Gonzales, Hilmar, Sr.Did it all for the D4 section champions. She was the team's QB and also big-time player for the Yellowjackets on defense.
QB — Taylor Jernigan, Christian Brothers (Sacramento), So. Connected on 84 TDs through the air and added another 14 on the ground.
ATH — Skyler Linehan, Rocklin, Sr.The Thunder will be losing a major weapon in Linehan. The senior had 140 flag pulls, 13 picks and also scored 24 times.
LB — Kayla Mougeotte, Whitney (Rocklin), Sr. Helped make the Wildcats a true contender this season. She had over 100 tackles and sacked the QB 44 times.
ATH — Imelda Beltran-Pelayo, Orestimba (Newman), Jr.Incredible all year and was in the rare 20/20 club. She had 20 touchdown catches and 23 interceptions.
ATH — Madeline Poe, Del Oro (Loomis), Jr.Did just about everything for the Golden Eagles. She split time at QB and also led the team in flag pulls and interceptions.
WR — Ryann Perez, Merced, Sr.Went out with a bang hauling in seven grabs for 152 yards and three scores during the Bears' D2 section title victory.
S — Taylor Peyrucain, Vista del Lago (Folsom), Sr.The Division 1 soccer commit used her speed and field awareness and became one of the top defensive backs in the section.
WR/S — Mira Rommelfanger, Del Campo (Fair Oaks), So.She was a big reason the Cougars returned to the section title game for a second-straight year. She caught 14 TDs and picked off nine passes.
WR — Sophia Smiley, Colfax, Sr.Helped the Falcons reach the section finals for a third-straight year. She caught 170 passes and scored 27 times.
WR — Rowan Thomas, Ponderosa (Shingle Springs), Sr.She was who the Bruins looked to when they needed a clutch grab on offense. She was a big part of the team's run to a second-straight section title appearance.
S — Monet Zauner, St. Francis (Sacramento), So. One of top defensive players in the section. She picked off 32 passes this season for the Troubadours.
