The St. Maries Lumberjacks are taking a road trip to challenge the Grangeville Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
St. Maries barely beat Kellogg the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lumberjacks blew past the Wildcats 19-8 on Tuesday. Considering the Lumberjacks have won seven games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Addyson Stewart made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, St. Maries got a massive performance out of Madison Thomas, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Brenna Elliott, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
St. Maries kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Grangeville entered their tilt with McCall-Donnelly on Thursday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They came out on top against the Vandals by a score of 14-10.
Maddison Harris was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenna York, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Grangeville's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-8. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.8 runs over those games. As for St. Maries, their record is now 9-6.
Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. St. Maries has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .453. However, it's not like Grangeville struggles in that department as they've averaged .521. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
St. Maries took their win against Grangeville in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 14-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lumberjacks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
