Softball Recap: Antonian Prep Beats Incarnate Word for Their Tenth Straight Victory

Antonian Prep came tearing into Friday's game with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They didn't even let the Incarnate Word Shamrocks on the board, marking their second-straight 15-0 shutout. The Apaches might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Analisa Guerrero made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Isabella Garza was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-2. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Khloe Villanueva, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Antonian Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .679. They are a perfect 12-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Antonian Prep pushed their record up to 16-7 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Incarnate Word, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.

Coincidentally, Antonian Prep and Incarnate Word will both be playing TMI-Episcopal the next time they take the field. Antonian Prep will head out to face TMI-Episcopal at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Incarnate Word will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
