Hailey Dewald spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Catie Strieff, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Bri Bowers, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Colfax beat Hilmar 9-6 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.
Sabrina Williams was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-5. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Leiah Hicks was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Colfax was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Argonaut's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Colfax, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Argonaut has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Colfax struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
