Basketball Recap: George Walton Academy Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

George Walton Academy won the last time they faced Loganville Christian Academy and things went their way on Tuesday too. The George Walton Academy Bulldogs came out on top against the Loganville Christian Academy Lions by a score of 47-38. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Lions are ranked 128th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

George Walton Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lora Kate Malcom led the charge by going 10 of 13 on her way to 24 points. The dominant performance gave Malcom a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Hill, who posted eight points along with six boards and three steals.

Dachelle Lucas and Sanai Cyrus certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Lucas put up 14 points, while Cyrus had six points in addition to ten boards and four steals. Cyrus has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 13 times she's played.

George Walton Academy is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for Loganville Christian Academy, they moved to 9-7 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Lakeview Academy the next time they take the court. Loganville Christian Academy will host Lakeview Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while George Walton Academy will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on January 14th.
