III Southern recap Oct. 3, 2012
Lincoln County extended the longest winning streak in III Southern this week by beating Needles, 45-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Lynx.
The Mustangs moved up to 61 from 912 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 45-0 win over Needles helped Needles improve its standing.
Chase Marrs was the best wideout in the league this week as Meadows fell to Calvary Chapel Christian. Marrs racked up three receptions for 82 yards. Bryson Bickart helped Meadows' passing attack out by catching three balls for 62 yards.
Riley Clark put up the best numbers through the air as the Lions beat the Mustangs. He finished with a total of 15 completions for 201 yards and three touchdowns. Clark's favorite target this week was Austin Zec, who caught three passes for 80 yards.
Matthew Larson was the most productive running back in III Southern this week. He ran for 199 yards on 14 carries as Mountain View Christian lost to Calvary Chapel Christian. Teammate Jacob Duldulao added to the ground attack by rushing for 137 yards.
Dylan Duggan made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Saints bested White Pine. The junior recorded one fumble and racked up one sack.
Calvary Chapel Christian's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Lions feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Clark has thrown for 868 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Chris Basilio has 18 catches for 282 yards. A.J Davis leads the league in rushing with 770 yards.
David Tautofi's team was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. The Lions vanquished Frank DeSantis's team 32-19 earlier in the week.
