The Wake Prep Academy Guardians scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They took down Woods Charter 49-34. The victory was some much needed relief for Wake Prep Academy as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
It was another big night for Olivia Langton, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 11 steals. That's the first time this season that she grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Chelsea Lange, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Several Wolves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Caroline Mitchell, who scored 20 points. That was a full 58.8% of Woods Charter's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Wesley Oliver, who scored 12 points.
Wake Prep Academy's victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-8. As for Woods Charter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wake Prep Academy will take on St. Mary's at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. St. Mary's has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Woods Charter, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Raleigh Charter at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th. Raleigh Charter is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
