Dunedin hasn't had much luck against East Lake recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Falcons will take on the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Tuesday, Dunedin made easy work of Clearwater Central Catholic and carried off a 16-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.

Maelaea Johnson was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Avery Royer also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Dunedin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .696. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, East Lake got the win against Tarpon Springs on Tuesday by a conclusive 14-4. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Spongers: they've now won nine in a row.
Anna Folger was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Meagan Bostak and Ali Sheffield did most of the damage at the plate: Bostak scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Sheffield scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Danni Scali, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
East Lake pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Dunedin, their record is now 12-3.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Dunedin has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .442. However, it's not like East Lake struggles in that department as they've averaged .481. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dunedin might still be hurting after the 16-2 defeat they got from East Lake in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
