Crofton is 1-9 against O'Neill since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Crofton Warriors are on the road again and play against the O'Neill Eagles on December 19th. Crofton will be strutting in after a win while O'Neill will be coming in after a loss.
Last Thursday, everything came up roses for Crofton on the road against Niobrara/Verdigre as the team secured a 59-17 win. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Crofton has managed all season.
Crofton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Trevor Allen led the charge by scoring 15 points. Another player making a difference was Seth Pinkelman, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, O'Neill's 17-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell 51-44 to Wayne on Saturday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for O'Neill in their matchups with Wayne: they've now lost nine in a row.
Despite the defeat, O'Neill got a solid performance out of Drew Morrow, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The game was Morrow's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Pokorny, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, O'Neill were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wayne only pulled down two offensive rebounds.
The victory got Crofton back to even at 3-3. As for O'Neill, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-4.
Crofton took a serious blow against O'Neill in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 74-36. Thankfully for Crofton, Landon Classen (who scored 27 points along with eight rebounds and six steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
