The Colonia Patriots will take on the Elizabeth Minutemen at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Colonia scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They walked away with a 66-59 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth earned a 58-47 victory over Union Catholic on Thursday. Given Elizabeth's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Union Catholic is ranked 73rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
London Carson was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cameron Mcrae, who scored 12 points.
Colonia is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Elizabeth, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Colonia didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Elizabeth when the teams last played back in January of 2022, but they still walked away with a 55-51 win. Will Colonia repeat their success, or does Elizabeth have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
