Baseball Recap: Fort Hill Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Fort Hill, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They blew past the Hancock Panthers 12-2 on Thursday. Considering the Sentinels have won three games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Bobby Brauer made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Brauer was even better at the plate, going 1-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jacob VanMeter was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Coye Resh was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Fort Hill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hancock only managed four hits.

Fort Hill is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Hancock, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Fort Hill has already played their next contest, a 9-3 victory against South Hagerstown on the 19th. As for Hancock, they will face off against GVCS Broadfording at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
