Hemingford is 1-0 against Arapahoe since October of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Hemingford Bobcats will head out on the road to face off against the Arapahoe Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Hemingford got themselves on the board against Morrill, but Morrill never followed suit. They blew past the Lions, posting a 66-0 victory at home. The victory was nothing new for Hemingford as they're now sitting on three straight.
Cody Galles was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 98 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. Zaine Feist was in the mix too, providing Hemingford with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Arapahoe humbled Sandhills Valley with a 78-30 victory. Given Arapahoe's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Sandhills Valley is ranked 110th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
William Cacy continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 145 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 carries. Rafe Hill was another major influence, as he rushed for 74 yards and ran in a TD.
Their wins bumped Hemingford to 5-3 and Arapahoe to 7-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's match: Hemingford has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 270.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Arapahoe struggles in that department as they've been averaging 228.8 per game. It's looking like Thursday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Everything came up roses for Hemingford against Arapahoe when the teams last played back in October of 2018 as the squad secured a 60-14 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Arapahoe's Carson Schroeder, who rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries, and also threw for 90 yards and a touchdown. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be that much easier for Hemingford to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
