The Mather Rangers will face off against the Westinghouse Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Mather's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Westinghouse has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
Mather's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Roosevelt as they made off with a 15-0 victory. The Rangers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by ten runs or more this season.
Jeriel Mejias and Aaron Roman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Mejias tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Roman tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mejias also tossed a walk, which is notable because Mather is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-9 otherwise. At bat, Mejias went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run, while Roman went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jadier Castillo was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Mather's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Lucas Lambert, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Westinghouse came up short against Mather on Thursday, falling 16-2.
Westinghouse saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryan Navarrete, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Michael Burgess was another, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Mather has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Westinghouse, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.
Mather took their victory against Westinghouse in their previous matchup on Thursday by a conclusive 16-2 score. Will the Rangers repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
