The Barbour County Jaguars and the Carroll Eagles will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Barbour County has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Carroll will arrive with five straight victories.
Barbour County's 16-5 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They had to suffer through a rough 80-42 loss at the hands of Eufaula. While losing is never fun, Barbour County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 415th, while Eufaula is ranked 146th).
Meanwhile, Carroll made easy work of Luverne on Tuesday and carried off a 64-41 win.
Carroll's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Devon Pruitt, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks, and Peyton Plott, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was N'jia Gosha, who scored six points along with four blocks.
Barbour County's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Carroll, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Barbour County took a serious blow against Carroll in their previous matchup back in January, falling 80-51. Can Barbour County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
