Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is West End's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Moody, West End was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They put the hurt on the Hokes Bluff Eagles with a sharp 8-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Braylee King, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Kayla Dixon also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

West End hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.

West End is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Hokes Bluff, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-18 record this season.

West End wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 6-3 win against Gaston on the 4th. As for Hokes Bluff, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-3 defeat against Lincoln on the 5th.
